TIME
“THE VALUE OF LIFE”
Jan.
Scripture Memorization
“Remember your creator in the days of your youth before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you say “I find no pleasure in them.’” Eccl. 12:1
GETTING STARTED
All of us in this room are uniquely created. We come from different communities, schools, and families. We own different things, have different traditions, talents and responsibilities. So as we clearly celebrate diversity, there is one thing that every single one of us do have in common. Can anyone guess what that might be? We all have been given a gift. This gift is to be revered; a gift to be cherished; a gift to be used. Do you perhaps have any more guesses? The gift that I am referring to is life.
Read Psalm 139:3
“For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
1. Who created you?
2. What value does God place on your life?
3. What value should we place on life?
4. Give some examples on how we can show that we value life.
Read Acts 17:25-27
25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27 God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
1. What does verse 25 say that God gives us?
2. What does God want from us?

MAKING IT REAL

There is important significance in the realization that life is a gift from God.
· We were created in the very image of God (Gen 1:26-27) No person has the right to take the life of themselves or another person. “Whoever kills a human being will be killed by a human being because God made humans in his own image.” Gen. 9:6
· You and I are created on purpose. “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Isaiah 43:7
· The wisest man who ever lived, Solomon, explores the meaning of life in the book of Ecclesiastes. He examined the folly of his youth and purpose of his existence. He came to the conclusion that the purpose of life is to reverence God and obey His teachings. (Eccl. 12:13)
TREASURE YOUR GIFT OF LIFE. USE IT TO WORSHIP AND GLORIFY YOUR CREATOR. YOU WILL DISCOVER THAT THIS LEADS TO FULFILLMENT AND JOY.
NO ONE LIVES FOREVER. Psalm 90:12 says to “Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Make your days count. Life is a gift.
Today before you say an unkind word- Think of someone who can’t speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food- Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your friends -Think of someone who is crying out to GOD for a companion.
Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went too early to heaven.
Before you complain about your parents – Think of someone who disires a Mom or Dad and doesn’t have one.
Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn’t clean or sweep – Think of the people who are living in the streets.
And when you are tired and complain about your chores – Think of the disabled and those who wish they could do your chores.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another – Remember that not one of us is without sin.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – Put a smile on your face and think: You’re alive and still around.
